Why Homeopathy?

What is Homeopathy?

Homeopathy is a system of alternative medicine based on the law of similars. The word homeopathy is derived from homeo meaning similar and pathos meaning suffering.

How does it work?

We all know what it feels like to cut raw onion. The nose tingles, and the eyes itch, burn, and water. These symptoms are similar to a common cold or hay fever. The homeopathic remedy Allium Cepa is often used to treat such symptoms. Allium Cepa is nothing but the same onion that has been prepared according to Homeopathic methods- meaning diluted and subjected to vigorous yet measured mechanical forces.

The person with the dis-ease receives a remedy that resonates along the same vibration of the illness. The remedy being stronger than the disease manifestation gently overtakes and restores ease.

Over a period of time, your immune system gets stronger through the use of Homeopathy, and you get much more resilient at dealing with whatever life throws your way.

Homeopathy comes from India, right? Wrong!

Homeopathy was founded in the 18th century by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, a medical doctor frustrated with the results of the then harsh treatment methods like blood-letting and cauterization. Contrary to popular belief, Homoeopathy is not an Indian system of medicine. It originated in Germany.

India, however, has made huge leaps in Homeopathic education and consulting; far surpassing the training quality for aspiring homeopaths available in the West. The Ministry of AYUSH has included Homeopathy in its repertoire of alternative medicines.

My friend & I both suffer from migraines, yet we are prescribed different medicines! Why?

Many headaches respond to aspirin. Homeopathy does not follow the one-remedy-fits-all principle. A headache that came after food poisoning is different from the one that came after the shocking news of a family death. The hammering pain of a tension headache needs a remedy very far removed from the suicidal pain of a cluster headache. We look beyond your disease diagnosis.

Perhaps in this case your migraines were set off by lack of sleep and get worse with noise. Your friend’s migraines are triggered by her periods and get aggravated by the slightest exposure to light. Therefore, you would probably respond to Nux vomica and your friend to Glonoine. Each patient is a unique case for a homeopath and requires a personalized analysis to arrive at a suitable medicine.

Homeopathy is not for you, if:

  • you have an acute, life-threatening condition- like a heart attack

  • you require surgery to fix broken bones

Homeopathy is for you if:

  • your condition (headaches/allergies/warts/etc) seems to always come back even if they go away temporarily

  • you have a chronic condition (arthritis, psoriasis, irritable bowel, diabetes) that is doing alright on conventional treatment but never fully clear.

  • you’re constantly and frequently feeling unwell and underproductive

  • you want to have access to easy-to-use remedies for yourself, your children, or your pets.

If this sounds like you, get in touch. Together, we will work on getting you curious about your health- what makes you tick, what relaxes your system, and how best to use this knowledge to improve your everyday well-being.

Health is so much more than a good body and great test results. It’s feeling well emotionally, intellectually, and socially too.
At our homeopathic clinic, we can meet this need and help you live your best life.
